ABOUT Jeep Exclusive Club

Built on Friendship. Powered by Passion. Rooted in West Texas.

The Jeep Exclusive Club of Amarillo began as the visionary idea of Larry McClean in the late 1980s. Larry was half trail guide, half big kid at heart — all he wanted was to spend his days doing what he loved: Jeeping with his friends and enjoying life under the wide Texas sky.

It all started when Larry bought an old CJ-7 and named it Iron Dog. That Jeep became more than a vehicle — it was a spark. Soon, Larry had gathered a circle of friends who shared his passion. His dream led him to Figure 3 Ranch, where Tom and Ann Christian opened 7,000 acres of private canyon land to help bring that vision to life. Together, they created something special in the rugged heart of Palo Duro Canyon.

As the community grew, names like Lawrence Mount, Roy Green, Judy House Leatherman, and many others joined the fold. Larry later partnered with Mark A. Smith of Jeep Jamboree USA, helping establish the Palo Duro Jeep Jamboree — right here in Amarillo. In just a few short years, Larry had turned a simple dream into a strong, family-centered off-roading community that has now endured for over 39 years.

Keeping the Legacy Alive

Today, Jeep Exclusive Club carries forward Larry’s original spirit — adventure, friendship, and purpose. We believe Jeeping is more than a hobby. It's a lifestyle built around the trail, the campfire, and the people you share it with.

Our club welcomes families, friends, and Jeep lovers of all skill levels. Whether you're navigating the backcountry or sharing stories over dinner, you're part of something bigger when you ride with us. Our events include:

  • Local and long-distance trail runs
  • Jeep Club dinners and community nights
  • The annual Palo Duro Challenge, a two-day signature off-road event
  • Fundraisers, raffles, and merchandise giveaways
  • Year-round support for charitable causes in the Amarillo area

We are a registered 501(c)(7) nonprofit organization, and we’re proud to raise funds and donate to local organizations, events, and families in need every year.

Leading with Purpose

Our goal is to be one of the most respected and welcoming off-road clubs in the country — a place where newcomers feel like old friends, and veterans of the trail find lasting camaraderie.

We strive to lead by example in everything we do, both on the rocks and in our community. From trail safety and stewardship to fellowship and service, Jeep Exclusive Club is committed to doing good while having a great time.
