The Jeep Exclusive Club of Amarillo began with one man's love for adventure and a simple idea: spend time on the trail with good friends. In the late 1980s, Larry McClean turned that idea into a club that has become one of the longest-standing Jeep organizations in the Texas Panhandle.
It all started when Larry purchased an old CJ-7 he named Iron Dog. That Jeep became much more than a vehicle. It inspired a growing group of friends who shared a passion for exploring the outdoors and enjoying the rugged beauty of West Texas.
That passion led Larry to Figure 3 Ranch, where Tom and Ann Christian opened more than 7,000 acres of private canyon land for off-road adventures. Together, they built something truly special in the heart of Palo Duro Canyon. What began as a handful of Jeep enthusiasts quickly grew into a close-knit community built on friendship, respect, and a love of the trail.
As the club continued to grow, members such as Lawrence Mount, Roy Green, Judy House Leatherman, and many others helped shape its future. Larry later partnered with Mark A. Smith of Jeep Jamboree USA to help establish the Palo Duro Jeep Jamboree in Amarillo. Within just a few years, his vision had grown into a respected, family-oriented off-road community that has proudly served Jeep enthusiasts for more than 39 years.
Today, the Jeep Exclusive Club continues to honor Larry's vision by bringing people together through adventure, friendship, and service. For our members, Jeeping is more than a hobby. It is a way of life centered around the trail, the campfire, and the friendships built along the journey.
The club welcomes Jeep owners and enthusiasts of every experience level. Whether someone is tackling their first trail ride or has years of off-road experience, everyone is welcome. Every ride is an opportunity to build friendships, learn new skills, and create lasting memories.
Throughout the year, members enjoy a variety of activities, including:
As a registered 501(c)(7) nonprofit organization, the Jeep Exclusive Club is committed to giving back. Each year, the club raises funds to support local charities, community organizations, and families in need throughout the Texas Panhandle.
Our mission is simple. We want to be one of the most respected, welcoming, and family-friendly off-road clubs in the country.
We believe every new member should feel like they've been part of the club for years. We believe experienced wheelers should always be willing to mentor those who are just getting started. Most of all, we believe every event should leave people looking forward to the next adventure.
From promoting responsible trail use and safe off-road practices to serving our local community, Jeep Exclusive Club strives to make a positive impact both on and off the trail.
If you enjoy adventure, great people, and exploring the outdoors, we'd love to meet you.
Join us for a meeting, come along on a trail ride, or attend one of our events. Experience the Jeep lifestyle the way it was meant to be, with real people, real adventures, and friendships that last a lifetime.
